Rail Shipping Disruptions – March 2022
Valued MVS Customers,
As you know, the Canadian economy is facing significant headwinds: recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, supply chain disruptions, blockades of critical infrastructure, and now record-high inflation.
With that in mind, we at MVS feel it is important to be as transparent as possible in regards to how this will affect the time it takes to safely move your vehicle to where you need it.
We want to make you aware of a pending labour dispute at one of Canada’s largest rail providers, CP Rail, that could have a significant impact on shipping times. We will do our best to communicate any changes and look for alternatives wherever possible to avoid significant delays to your shipment.
Other issues that are causing delays include US Customs inspections delays that have impacted some rail shipments out of the Maritimes. As these inspections are somewhat random, although infrequent, we feel it important to share as they could impact shipment ETAs.
Finally, it is important to note that supply chain disruptions can and will continue to affect our business in a way that we have not encountered in the past. Parts are harder to source and are harder to come by, repairs take longer and can sometimes lead to significant delays.
We ask for patience and understanding when shipping a vehicle in these unprecedented times. Our commitment to you has not changed and we will do our best to continue hold your interests in the highest regard.
